Position: Communications Officer, Atlantic Region Climate Change Adaptation Assessment<br />
Type: 6-month f/t contract / Canada Green Corps Internship<br />

The COINAtlantic Secretariat is supporting the Atlantic chapter coordinating lead author in the delivery of a draft assessment for the Regional Perspectives volume of “Canada in a Changing Climate: Advancing the Knowledge for Action”. The assessment is a project of the Climate Change Impact and Adaptation Division of Natural Resources Canada.<br />

Under the supervision of the Director, COINAtlantic Secretariat, the Communications Officer will conduct the design and development of communication tools to support the development of the draft assessment report. Communication tools will include: website, social media, fact sheets, workshop posters, promotional materials, meeting minutes, and assistance with the preparation of reports from stakeholder workshops.<br />

Duties will include updating the International Coastal Atlas Network website membership information and assisting with the implementation of a searchable inventory of information on coastal web atlases.<br />
<br />
The incumbent will be guided by the current website development staff and will have advice and guidance available from other Secretariat staff.<br />
<br />
Requirements: The incumbent must have some training and experience with computer applications from an educational institution. Work or volunteer experience developing business, organizational or personal websites and social media is required. Some knowledge of the climate change and climate change adaptation subject matter is required. The ability to read and write in French would be a valuable asset. Experience with a website content management system, such as Joomla, would be an asset.<br />

Period of employment: Six months<br />
<br />
Work week: 35 hours/week<br />
<br />
Compensation: Commensurate with experience<br />
<br />
Eligibility: This position is partially funded by the United Nations Association in Canada, Canada Green Corps program. To be eligible for the Green Corps you must:<br />
• be between the ages of 18 and 30 (inclusive) at the time of intake/selection;<br />
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada;<br />
• be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations;<br />
• not be in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits at the time of the placement (*Please note that the cancellation of EI benefits may cause some delay in the hiring process);<br />
• not be a full-time students or co-op student;<br />
• not have participated in a youth project or programme funded by the federal government within one year. If you have participated in a federally-funded youth programme, you must have been continuously unemployed throughout the following year, and the application will be subject to review;<br />
• must be able to commit to a full-time job placement;<br />
• Unemployed or underemployed. Note: Underemployment exists when employed persons are A) working part-time, or B) working in a field that does not utilize their academic qualifications, thus, not attaining their full employment level.<br />
