The Deanery Project is an innovative environmental and arts learning centre located on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. We provide education and tools to strengthen communities and the environment through hands-on programs in permaculture, the arts, natural building, restorative forest management, and healthy living choices.<br />

Location: 751 W. Ship Harbour Rd., Lower Ship Harbour, Eastern Shore, Nova Scotia<br />
Start date: As soon as possible<br />
Term: 8 week contract funded through Canada Summer Works Program<br />

JOB DESCRIPTION<br />
<br />
The Summer Events Programmer will work closely alongside the Deanerys core programming team to support workshops and general programming both on and off site. In particular they will work on special summer events including a Solar Concert and The SeaLight SkyLight Festival.<br />
<br />
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:<br />
Work closely with Deanery Project staff to develop and deliver summer programming<br />
Assist with communication and promotion.<br />
Coordinate volunteers, performers and speakers<br />
Assist with evaluation, reflections and reporting after events<br />
Research and produce informational materials related to events<br />
Learn and maintain safe work habits while on site<br />
Participate in and assist with other on-site projects as needed<br />
Complete police and vulnerable sector checks<br />
Maintain common staff and living spaces in good order<br />
<br />
QUALIFICATIONS<br />
Passion for the environment<br />
Computer literate especially with Word, Excel and Google Drive and social media platforms<br />
Strong writing and communication skills<br />
Reliable self-starter who is comfortable working in a team environment<br />
<br />
ASSETS<br />
Have access to a vehicle<br />
Experience with gardens & food preparation<br />
Experience in working with youth <br />
<br />
