Position: Wilderness Campaign Support Officer<br />
Organization: Ecology Action Centre<br />
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia<br />
<br />
EAC’s Wilderness Team works to conserve terrestrial biodiversity in Nova Scotia. To this end, the team focuses on: advocating for a network of legally protected areas, pushing for ecologically-healthy working forests, engaging people with the natural world, and organizing against destructive development through partnering with communities to stop inappropriate industrial projects. We work with a committee of volunteers, and collaborate with other EAC Teams. <br />

The EAC’s Wilderness Team is seeking a Campaign Support Officer who is passionate about nature conservation, and interested in supporting wilderness advocacy campaigns and communications. The role will involve assisting in various aspects of our campaigns, through research, writing, strategizing, communicating, and planning and attending meetings and events. <br />
<br />
In this position, we need a person with the skills to: <br />
• Analyze government policies and gather data<br />
• Conduct literature reviews and write reports<br />
• Convincingly convey data and knowledge-based information through communications pieces<br />
• Assist in event planning and coordinating<br />
• Write grant proposals<br />
• Be friendly, patient and strategic when working with partners, allies, and adversaries<br />
• Work independently and manage time effectively<br />
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment<br />

WORKING CONDITIONS <br />
<br />
The position requires occasional evening and weekend work, and involves limited travel. <br />
<br />
All positions are EAC involve some contribution to:<br />
• Research and writing of both internal and external communications including press releases, web content and social media posts.<br />
• Project administration duties, including but not limited to funder reporting, budget management, proposal and report writing, and donor relationship building and stewardship.<br />
• Participating in and supporting the overall work of the Ecology Action Centre and the Wilderness Team, including but not limited to community queries, project strategizing, engagement organizing, and promoting our overall impact.<br />
<br />
This is a one-year contract for 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday) at $17.25 to $20.00 per hour, based on experience, plus cost-shared benefits and 4 weeks of paid vacation per year. Work can be completed in our office space, or done remotely with periodic work in our office space. <br />

OUR OFFICE SPACE <br />

Our building on Fern Lane in North End Halifax is a welcoming place for the community, members, volunteers and employees to connect, learn and work together. The office space is shared, with a moderate noise level. Our office is wheelchair-accessible, and scent-free. Our 2016 renovation has been recognized for being one of the most energy efficient commercial office retrofit in Canada. This is part of how we “walk the talk” at EAC.<br />
