Position: Executive Director<br />
Organization: COINAtlantic (Coastal and Ocean Information Network Atlantic)<br />
Location: COINAtlantic’s office is located in Halifax, NS. Consideration will be given to virtual/remote working arrangements.<br />
<br />
The Coastal & Ocean Information Network Atlantic (COINAtlantic) is a non-governmental organization based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We are dedicated to supporting the integrated management of coastal and ocean resources in Atlantic Canada through open data management and information sharing.<br />
<br />
COINAtlantic works across sectors and collaborates with partners to understand needs and develop information products, facilitate conversations and organize workshops and webinars to support relevant and timely coastal and ocean information exchange. COINAtlantic has been supporting access to coastal and ocean data since 1992 and recently joined other partners in Atlantic Canada to form the Atlantic Regional Association of the Canadian Integrated Ocean Observing System (CIOOS Atlantic).<br />
<br />
We are seeking candidates for the full-time position of Executive Director of COINAtlantic. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Atlantic Canada’s coasts and oceans and about connecting data and information to planning and decision-making processes; this requires an individual who is skilled at relationship building, a strong communicator and has an understanding (or is prepared to develop it) of the technical requirements that support data management.<br />
<br />
The Executive Director’s key responsibilities include: <br />
• Engaging with coastal and ocean stakeholders and rightsholders in Atlantic Canada and building support for the objectives and activities of COINAtlantic and the Atlantic Regional Association of CIOOS Atlantic;<br />
• Developing and managing projects in collaboration with partners that advance the goals of COINAtlantic and CIOOS Atlantic<br />
• Developing and implementing the COINAtlantic strategic plan, work plan and budget with support from the organization’s Finance Officer and Project Officer;<br />
• Reporting regularly to the Board of Directors;<br />
• Leading on proposal development and fundraising to support the work of COINAtlantic;<br />
• Providing direction and guidance to other members of COINAtlantic.<br />
<br />
Qualifications:<br />
• Extensive knowledge of integrated coastal and ocean management, marine spatial planning and its practitioners and practices in Atlantic Canada;<br />
• Knowledge of the principles and technologies for the open sharing of data and information, including specifically, the collection and management of ocean observations and their uses;<br />
• Experience in organizing the activities of an organization including financial and human resource management;<br />
• Experience in developing project proposals and acquiring funding;<br />
• Ability to communicate in writing and orally, and to prepare and deliver public presentations;<br />
• Strong teamwork and relationship building skills;<br />

Location: COINAtlantic’s office is located in Halifax, NS. Consideration will be given to virtual/remote working arrangements.<br />
<br />
Start: The preferred start date is May 2021 or ASAP.<br />
<br />
Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000. Remuneration will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.<br />
