<p class="MsoNormal">Reduce military spending and re-allocate it to urgent social and environmental needs. According to the Public Accounts of Canada 2021, federal spending on the Department of National Defence was $28.6 billion whereas the Department for Indigenous
Services was only $4 billion, the Department of Environment and Climate was only $2 billion and the Department for Women and Gender Equality was only $51 million. Canada is spending too much on militarized security and supporting a male-dominated institution
that deploys armed force and isn’t doing peacekeeping. Canada is ranked 69th in the world for peacekeeping with only 59 soldiers on UN peace support operations. Canada's military is involved in NATO operations that are causing instability and increasing conflict
with other countries (for example in Afghanistan, Libya and Eastern Europe). Canada needs to demilitarize and cut military spending. We need greater federal investment in the things that really make us safe and secure our future like climate action, health
care, education, Indigenous reconciliation and foreign aid (Canada hasn't ever met our 0.7% GDP target). These investments would help Canadians and people in developing countries, create more jobs at home and abroad, and stimulate the green care economy. See:

<p class="MsoNormal">Cancel the $19 billion procurement for fighter jets (don’t purchase armed drones and warships) and cut military spending then invest that money in climate action, affordable housing (ending homelessness), education (ending student debt),
health care (including dental care, mental health care, ending the opioid crisis) and Indigenous reconciliation (end Indigenous poverty). No to militarism and yes to mutual aid.
