The Truro Farmers’ Market Co-operative (TFMC) is a not-for-profit co-operative, owned and governed by its members. The TFMC operates a vibrant and beloved farmers market year-round on Saturdays at the market hall in the heart of Truro (15 Young St). The Saturday market is home to over 50 vendors each week during peak season, selling fresh local produce and a wide array of hand-made foods, crafts and other local goods. As well as the Saturday market, the TFMC hosts craft fairs, food truck rallies, and other special events in the market building.<br />

Description of role, who it reports to<br />
<br />
The Market Coordinator will be the public face of the Saturday Market. They will be the primary contact person for the public, vendors and the media regarding the Saturday Market, and will be responsible for operations including:<br />
• Coordinating vendor bookings and invoicing, monitoring the Market’s product mix<br />
• Managing vendor and customer relations, as well as coordinating volunteers when needed<br />
• Communicating market news and updates to vendors<br />
• Ensuring food safety compliance for food vendors<br />
• Advertising the Saturday market to the public (email, social media and radio)<br />
• Physical set-up and for the Saturday Market and special events<br />
• Implementation of grant programs<br />

The Market Coordinator will also on occasion help coordinate and execute other market events, including holiday markets, market fare dinners, food truck rallies, etc.<br />
<br />
The Market Coordinator will work alongside and report to the Executive Director (responsible for the overarching operations of the TFMC).<br />
<br />
Required experience, competencies and skills<br />
• Experience providing personable and efficient customer service<br />
• Experience with social media, email marketing and communications<br />
• Experience managing cash, issuing receipts etc, and attentive to detail<br />
• Assertive; able to enforce market policies and rules with vendors and customers<br />
• Demonstrated skills working in a team<br />
• Demonstrated conflict management skills<br />
• Able to lift and move tables, booths and signage<br />
• Able to work weekends<br />
<br />
Assets<br />
• Experience with financial management for a business or organization<br />
• Photography and graphic design skills<br />
• Website maintenance skills<br />
<br />
Terms of employment <br />
<br />
Schedule: 24 hours per week, including Saturdays at the market, year round (50 Saturdays of the year). Two weeks of paid vacation plus one week of unpaid time off (December 25 - January 2). More hours could be available in the future should the market diversify and expand.<br />
<br />
Pay: Pay starts at $15/hour (commensurate with experience)<br />
<br />
Work location: TFMC office in the market building (15 Young St, Truro)<br />
<br />
Term: This is a permanent position, with a 3 month probationary period.<br />
