Position: Annapolis Estuary Project Coordinator<br />

Job Description/ Responsibilities:<br />
<br />
The Annapolis Estuary Project Coordinator will oversee the delivery of CARP’s Annapolis Estuary Monitoring and Research project, a multi-faceted project focused on improving the understanding of the Annapolis River estuary. The project involves working with the conservation sector, academia, government, and the local community. Information gathered will be used to develop guidance for ecologically sustainable management decisions that reduce risks to aquatic species of commercial, cultural and conservation concern. The ideal candidate for this position has outstanding written, verbal and visual communication skills and experience in a leadership role working with a wide variety of partners and stakeholders.<br />
<br />
Elements of this project include: acoustic tagging and monitoring of species-at-risk, including Atlantic salmon, Atlantic sturgeon, and striped bass; water quality monitoring; volunteer angler recruitment and management; aquatic surveys using techniques such as beach seines; coordination of public and stakeholder engagement sessions.<br />

This position is based out of CARP’s office in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. Normal work hours will be 8:30 am – 4:30 pm; early morning, late evening, or weekend work may be required on some occasions. The position may require supporting some field-based activities in the Annapolis River and estuary. The position will require access to a personal vehicle, with compensation provided according to the prevailing provincial mileage rate.<br />

Specific tasks may include:<br />
• general project management and tracking of deliverables;<br />
• project reporting to funders and partners;<br />
• compilation and analysis of data;<br />
• the development of communications materials for a variety of technical and non-technical audiences;<br />
• coordination of public engagement sessions<br />
• coordination of stakeholder engagement sessions<br />
• the development of social media content to communicate project progress and results;<br />
• coordination and support for field activities being undertaken by CARP and project partners (e.g. Acadia University);<br />
• field equipment sourcing, ordering and maintenance;<br />
• participation in staff meetings and project planning meetings as required;<br />
• other duties as assigned.<br />
<br />
Desired experience: <br />
• Experience writing technical and scientific reports.<br />
• Experience developing communications materials that help non-technical audiences understand research and monitoring methods and results.<br />
• Experience using a variety of software applications to develop communications products.<br />
• A background in environmental science or ecology.<br />
• Familiarity with the ecology of estuarine ecosystems.<br />
• Experience planning and hosting events aimed at engaging the community in environmental issues.<br />
• Experience completing reporting to project funders or donors.<br />
• Experience with stakeholder engagement on potentially sensitive environmental topics<br />
<br />
Reporting Relationships: <br />
<br />
The Annapolis Estuary Project Coordinator will report to the Executive Director on matters specific to the delivery of programs/projects and report to the Administration Manager on all HR, contractual reporting deadlines and financial matters (e.g. travel claims, sick days, and vacation). The Annapolis Estuary Project Coordinator works closely and in cooperation with other staff members and in accordance with all CARP policies approved by the Board of Directors. The Annapolis Estuary Project Coordinator is not part of the CARP management team and no staff report directly to him/her.<br />

Responsibilities of the Employer: <br />
<br />
