Position: Farmers Market Intern<br />

ABOUT THE POSITION <br />
<br />
Halifax Brewery Market seeks to provide locally grown and harvested food in a festive atmosphere in the historic Alexander Keith Building in downtown Halifax. The YESP Intern will bring enthusiasm and dedication to the day-to-day operations of the farmers market. The candidate should be passionate about food, local farming, agriculture and community.<br />

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP<br />
<br />
This position works closely with the Market Manager and Program Coordinator and reports directly to the cooperative's Program Coordinator.<br />
<br />
RESPONSIBILITIES<br />
<br />
Staff the Saturday Market.<br />
Coordinate with Volunteers & Summer Students<br />
Help with setup and tear down of the weekly market.<br />
Maintain a clean and welcoming space.<br />
Support the market’s programming, including: community events, waste diversion, nourishing communities, market money, durable dishes.<br />

POSITION DETAILS<br />
<br />
This is a paid, part-time flexible position requiring a commitment of 14-20 hours weekly at a rate of 20$/hourly, with additional funding available to cover barriers to work. Work hours and location are flexible outside of market hours (Saturdays 7am – 2pm). The internship runs from April 1st , 2024 - March 31st, 2025.<br />

QUALIFICATIONS<br />
<br />
Experience in a fast-paced environment, strong communication skills, self-directed time management.<br />
Passion for locally produced food, involvement in local food politics, regular participation in a Farmers Market community.<br />
Physical ability to setup and tear down the market and care for our space.<br />
Enthusiasm to participate in both exciting and mundane activities.<br />
Current Safe Food Handling Certificate or willingness to acquire.<br />
