The David Tuer Emerging Artist Scholarship

Definition:
A $2,000 per annum scholarship for the next five years from directed funds
of the ATP Board of Directors. The funds are to be awarded to a young
theatre professional with an interest in developing further in the area of
new play development.

Purpose:
The scholarship has been set up by the ATP Board of Directors in an effort
to express the company's respect and gratitude for the visionary leadership
of Mr. David Tuer, past President and CEO of PanCanadian Energy, and in
consideration of his unparalleled commitment to, and nurturing of, the
development of new Canadian plays and new Canadian theatre artists. The
$2,000 scholarship is to support the development of Canadian theatre through
the further education and professional development of high potential
emerging theatre artists.

Application Criteria:

Applications will be accepted from the general public.

Applicant must be a Canadian citizen.

The application submitted must describe how you will be spending scholarship
funds to further your professional education, development, and career.

You must complete the described project within two years of being awarded
the scholarship

For the purposes of this scholarship, education is to be defined in the
broadest sense. The intention of professional development is the key factor.

You have already demonstrated some level of investment and/or intention in
developing professionally as an artist, with a focus on new material.

One recipient will be awarded the $2,000 annually.

Preference will be given to projects which relate to the development of new
work.

There is no age limitation, although the focus is on an emerging
professional.

The successful applicant will receive 75% of the funds at the presentation
ceremony. The remaining 25% will be delivered to the recipient upon receipt
of a final report at the culmination of the funded professional development.

Deadlines:
Application deadline is January 15, 2002.
The recipient will be presented with the scholarship on Friday, March 1,
2002 in the Martha Cohen Theatre following the performance of MIDLIFE by
Eugene Stickland, and the opening of Blitz Weekend, the closing weekend of
the PanCanadian playRites Festival.
