WPA is excited to announce that NEIL DAINARD returns to Vancouver next
month
to provide WPA members with an intensive on-camera auditioning class.
Do you need a GREAT JOLT OF CONFIDENCE in your auditioning skills? Come and
learn the professional techniques to make the most of your chances! This
course is specially geared toward helping stage trained actors make the
transition to the screen. You will receive 18 hours of on-camera, expert
instruction over a 3-day weekend.
BRING A PREPARED MONOLOGUE OR SIDES FROM A RECENT AUDITION FOR THE FRIDAY
CLASS. IF YOU BRING A VHS CASSETTE, YOU WILL HAVE A PERMANENT RECORD OF
YOUR CLASS WORK! Additional sides will be provided in class for the
Saturday and Sunday sessions.

ABOUT NEIL DAINARD
Neil is a co-founder and past Executive Director of ACTRAWORKS, the
National
Training program for professional actors, and has been an actor, director
and instructor for over 30 years. He brings a wealth of experience in all
three fields to the classroom. Neil has performed featured roles in
literally hundreds of hours of prime time TV and has held leading roles in
seven TV series. You may remember him as J.C. Callahan, the irascible
assignment editor who ended up in a wheelchair on the CTV series, E.N.G.
He
will be appearing ina recurring role in "Doc" which airs this fall. He has
also narrated 265 half-hour and hour-long programs for Profiles in Nature
and Canadian Wilderness Journal. Neil also has extensive theatre
experience, enjoying many years with the Vancouver Playhouse as well as
the
Stratford Festival, where he has the distinction of being the first
Canadian
to play Richard III! Neil has also played for the Manitoba Theatre
Centre,
St. Lawrence Arts Centre, National Arts Centre, Vancouver International
Theatre Festival and the Charlottetown Festival. In Vancouver, Neil has
also directed theatre productions for both the Vancouver Playhouse and the
Arts Club. Neil can be considered a Canadian "architect" of education and
professional development for actors, having designed the ACTRA apprentice
course, as well as teaching at York University for 5 years and designing
the
3-year acting program at Ryerson University, where he taught for 9 years.
He was also co-founder and teacher of the Vancouver Playhouse Actors
workshop and was co-founder and teacher for the Stratford Festival Actor's
workshop. Finally, Neil has been a visiting director/teacher with
Dalhousie, Mont Royal and Studio 58.
