DANCE AUDITION

FEBRUARY 18, 2002

For the Edmonton Opera Production of: The Merry Widow

Rehearsal Dates:
begin March 25,  day and evenings
Performance Dates:
APRIL 13, 16 AND 18, 2002
requirements:
- strong ballet/jazz trained dancers,
- brush up on any acrobatic or gymnastic tricks you might have. (Cartwheels,
back walkovers, partner tricks)
-  women: a strong singing voice, (belt or legit)  ONE verse and chorus of
"The Grissettes Song" from "The Merry Widow", and a piece in English of your
choice. Grissette Music will be available from the Edmonton Opera Office (In
English, not German). You need to sound like a "can can girl", not an opera
singer!
- men do not need to sing, although experience with partner work would be
great.
- two female acting roles will be cast from the dancers
- needed are 6 women, 2 men

Where: The Kaasa Theatre main-stage, inside the Jubilee Auditorium,
87th Avenue and 114th Street, Edmonton.
When: Monday, February 18, 2002, 11:00AM - 2:00PM.
Short singing auditions first, followed by dance auditions.
Bring soft shoes (ballet or jazz) and women please bring character shoes
with heels. Accompanist provided.
