Audition Call to Members of Canadian Actor's Equity Association

We wish to advise you of  auditions in Toronto  for Winnipeg Jewish
Theatre's 2002-2003 season.

The Chosen by Aaron Posner and Chaim Potok. This is an award-winning
adaptation about two boys, two fathers and two different Jewish communities
in Brooklyn in the 1940's. Contract period is from September 19th 2002 until
October 20th 2002.

Yiddle with a Fiddle is a new musical based on the 1936 Yiddish film "Yidle
Mitn Fiddle" by Joseph Green. Books and lyrics by Isiah Sheffer, music by
Abraham Ellstein, musical score created and arranged by Lanny Meyers.
Contract period is from April 17th 2003 until May 18th 2003.

Yet to be cast for The Chosen:
Reuven and others- male, age range 30-45
Young Reuven and others- 16-30
Reb Saunders- male, age range 40-55
David Malter- male, age range 40-55
Danny Saunders- male, age range 16-30

Yet to be Cast for Yiddle with a Fiddle:
Yiddle- female, age range 18-30, petite, comical, tough-edged, kid type
(Molly Picon), feisty with a strong belt voice
Aryeh- male, age range 35-50, Yiddle's sympathetic father, strong voice, old
school
Kalamutke- male, age range 30-50, leader of the band, endearing, boisterous
Froym- male, age range 20-30, romantic lead, handsome, amusing, charismatic
Teibele- female, age range 25-35, strong singer, sweet, energetic

*Actors auditioning for Yiddle with a Fiddle must prepare either one musical
theatre piece of choice or from the score (available at Equity Showcase)

AUDITIONS:

To be held in Toronto at Equity Showcase (651 Dufferin)

June 3rd 9:00am-1:00pm  The Chosen
    2:00pm-5:00pm  Yiddle with a Fiddle (3rd
floor)
Callbacks will be on June 4th 9:00am-11:30am (4th floor)

At Callbacks actors will be asked to read sides from the play (a reader will
be provided).  A copy of both scripts will be available at Equity Showcase.

No faxes please.  All pictures and resumes must be received no later than
May  24th 2002. We will be in touch with you to set up an audition time.
Our Artistic Director is only in Toronto for two days so we will only have
space for those selected and booked.  Please advise us 48 hours before your
audition if you must cancel your appointment.
