Theatre Alberta Presents  Dramaworks 2002

2002 marks the forty-third year of Theatre Alberta's Dramaworks and our
fifth in the beautiful Citadel Theatre.  Each year, nearly one hundred
teachers, practitioners and professionals gather in Edmonton for nine days
of professional development workshops, community networking and personal
challenge.  Enclosed are only a sample of the workshops offered at
Dramaworks 2002.

Extending Voice with Jane MacFarlane   $175
2 1/2 days:  Friday, July 5 to Sunday, July 7, 2002
Participants will start with a basic exploration of the anatomy and
physiology of the voice, and identify habits that inhibit the free release
of breath.  Work will then progress to building a strong connection between
breath support and forward placement;  techniques explored will be applied
to textwork.

Jane MacFarlane is a Voice & Speech Coach/Teacher.  She holds a BFA from the
University of British Columbia, an MFA and a Professional Voice & Speech
Teachers Diploma from York University.  She interned at the American
Repertory Theatre Institute at Harvard University under Dr. Bonnie Raphael.
Jane has taught across Canada and the US and is currently on faculty at
Mount Royal College.  In Calgary, Jane works with Theatre Calgary, Theatre
Junction, Company of Rogues, and recently appeared as Mrs. Crachit in
Theatre Calgary¹s annual production of A Christmas Carol.

Expose Yourself to Camera with Randy Bradshaw   $375
5 days:  Monday, July 8 to Friday, July 12, 2002
This high-level, practical workshops will provide actors with the
opportunity to receive feedback on their camera technique from an
experienced film director.  The course will take you through the entire
process, from preparation for the audition to polishing your performance for
those critical few moments on camera.  This workshop is intended for Equity
and ACTRA members and experienced professional actors only.  Class size
limited to 12.

Randy Bradshaw is a producer and director of numerous internationally
successful film and television programs.  His movie credits include:  Last
Train Home, Blades of Courage, Special Delivery, Ramona, Agent of Influence
and The Song Spinner.  He has also directed numerous television series
including:  The Twilight Zone, Top Cops, Night Heat, The Hitchhiker, 21 Jump
Street, North of 60, Lonesome Dove: The Series, Goosebumps, Traders and PSI
Factor.  Recently Randy produced and directed the Gemini nominated special A
George Fox Christmas for the CBC.  He has been nominated for several Gemini
Awards and won for his direction of Man With a Gun (Diamonds, CBS).

Aceing Your Film Audition with Geraldine Carr  $200
3 days:  Friday, July 12 to Sunday, July 14, 2002
This workshop will prepare actors to read and interpret their sides, make
the right acting choices in the context of the story, conduct themselves in
the audition room, and take care of important business such as demo reels
and marketing.  Learn to survive - even thrive - in the pressure cooker of
the audition room.

Geraldine Carr is an independent casting director who has cast national and
regional commercials, feature films, episodic television and short films.
As a director, Geraldine's credits include Mentors (Family Channel) and The
Beat (CBC, TV Pilot), The War Bride (Feature), and Framed (Feature), as well
as numerous short films.  She recently assisted casting director Rene Haynes
from Los Angeles on an upcoming miniseries for Hallmark.  As an Alberta
casting director, Geraldine is dedicated to presenting local actors at their
best to producers and directors who make the ultimate decision.
