AUDITIONS - Vancouver & Toronto
aqtvancouver - a queer theatre is planning a season of productions with
characters of undetermined age, sex, race, sexuality, and definitely out of
the norm/standard; aqtvancouver hires the best actor for the part, sexuality
is definitely not an issue! Emerging and non-equity performers are welcomed;
Equity members will be hired under the jurisdiction of the CAEA.
Here are some more specific available roles for works that we plan to
produce in the future:

RENNEE - a lover; a married woman of thirty-forty. A paleontologist.
ELENOR - a mother. Fifty+. Explorer.
IBU - mother, guardian, goddess - undetermined age
ESTASANATLEHI - the changing woman - undetermined age
AHSONNUTLI - father figure - undetermined age
GRIMALDI (18-35) - opera singer; movement/dance trained; pantomime commedia
knowledge a great asset;

males: a Czech prostitute; a Dutchman and his son; 3 young Polish males; a
young Romanian; a young Dutchman; a young Russian; Latino guapo; Asian lord;
females: Latino; Philippine rock star; a butch dyke; aboriginal/native
princess; whores & teasers;

BOYD & MARIAS - 2 black males of undetermined age and sexuality
ROBERT MAPPLETHORPE (30's) - the photographer
THE BLACK BOY (18-25) - Robert's subject
TENNESSE WILLIAMS (65) - the writer with a Southern drawl
ANGELL (15) - a very young boy
PASOLINI at 30 - the filmmaker
JOHN LEE - an Asian male in his late teens
THE FACE OF INDIA - male and female
MALE ACTORS who are great FEMALE IMPERSONATORS
DANCERS - males and females, jazz/modern experience/training

VISIBLE MINORITY ACTORS (females & males) - to play various roles in the
'greek chorus' of the world premiere of a ritual/mythological play.

aqtvancouver - a queer theatre is auditioning weekly in May & June at the
office, also:
VANCOUVER: June 5th (ACTORS at the Alliance for Arts+Culture). Please e-mail
or mail your picture/resume and/or call 778-882-6278 to book your audition
time in Vancouver.
TORONTO: June 16th (Buddies in Bad Times Theatre). Toronto area actors must
send their resume/picture via e-mail to queertheatre at canada.com. Successful
candidates will be contacted with audition time. YOU MUST HAVE A BOOKED
AUDITION TIME!
Please prepare a maximum of 5 minutes (2 short contemporary pieces
preferable).

aqtvancouver - a queer theatre is a member of the Greater Vancouver
Professional Theatre Alliance, the Alliance for the Arts+Culture, the Dance
Centre and GLBA. Production dates for 2002/2003 mainstage season (at
Roundhouse and Dance Centre) yet to be announced. Opening August 1st at the
Vogue Theatre (still looking for queer, queer-oriented, queer-following
variety acts for the line-up). All applicants must be at least 18 years of
age.
