THE WORKSHOP:
The first exercise of the day uninhibited dance to the best rhythmic
African
Drum music on the planet...the actor is lead through breathing
techniques
and attention is brought to all different parts of the instrument; the
actor's body. Then Michael uses the sense memory exercises developed by
K.
Stanislavski to bring the actor further in touch with the 6th sense.
Improvisation and scene work is also used in the acting workshop. The on
stage journey begins with the individual understanding him/herself; then
outward to the actor understanding the physical space in which they are
working; then the partner/s on stage; and finally the audience.
The actor need not prepare any material for the acting workshops, unless
there is something that one wants to work on. Certain writing
assignments
will be encouraged. In these workshops you will laugh, you will cry, you
will remember events in your life, dream incredible dreams and begin to
realize your true potential as an artist.
Michael and his work are the subject of a documentary that is available
to
see on line. If you would like to see something about Michael's teaching
