Kaeja d'Dance
is currently seeking a Part-Time* Education and Outreach Liaison
The core areas of this position are Education, Film Distribution, and
project management of Kd'D2. Kd'D2, a dance project of young
professionals, was created by Kaeja d'Dance in 2001. Kd'D2 works
simultaneously with the education system, the local arts presenter, and
arts communities that are established in the regions to which we tour.
The Company's commitment to showcase dance as a visceral experience, a
method of expression and a new medium of exploring history and social
issues heightens the foundation of Kd'D2. The troupe performs matinee
and evening performances for students and the general public,
facilitates educational experiences such as lecture-demonstrations,
classes, and discussions with the choreographer and company members, and
instructs workshops with teachers & students in Dance Composition,
Contact Dance, and Improvisation. Kd'D2 was formed with the generous
financial support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Ontario Arts
Council, and the George Cedric Metcalf Charitable Foundation. The
Education and Outreach position is generously funded by the George
Cedric Metcalf Charitable Foundation.
At the heart of Kaeja d'Dance is a collaboration of two dynamic energies
- Artistic Directors Karen and Allen Kaeja - that infuse the Company
with spirit, action, and passion. Dance performance, film and education
are the vehicles that propel the company forward; creation is the
foundation. The core of their choreography and movement invention
elicits its own style, the signature aesthetic - densely packed,
disturbingly beautiful, evocative, sensual, and sharp-edged. With a
company of exquisite dancers, Kaeja d'Dance follows its own lead
nationally and around the world. For the Kaejas, discovery constitutes
resonance, as they reach to touch the core of another person through
rich journeys of perception and visual imagination.
