TORONTO - The Council of Canadian Actors' Equity is pleased to announce
the election of Henry Gauthier, Councillor from Montreal, as the new
President of the Association. Mr. Gauthier will serve a three year term.
He is joined by the following elected Officers:

Vice President External: Dawn Obokata (Ontario)
Vice President Internal: Donna Fletcher (Manitoba and Nunavut)
Secretary: Hal Kerbes (Southern Alberta)
Treasurer: Kerry Davidson (British Columbia and the Yukon)

The Council of CAEA is made up of 38 Councillors from all 13 regions and
disciplines in Canada, and meets three times per year to set national
policy. The Council elects its Executive Committee which is comprised of
the five officers: President, Vice-President External, Vice-President
Internal, Treasurer and Secretary -- and ten other members of Council.
They meet every three weeks to make policy decisions for the period
between full Council meetings.

The new Executive Committee is comprised of the following members:

Heather Lea MacCallum (Alberta South)
George Masswohl (Ontario)
Geoff McBride (Atlantic)

Donald M. Wright (Western Opera)
Katey Wright (BC/Yukon)

Originally from Sudbury, Henry Gauthier graduated from the University of
Ottawa acting program in 1990.  Fluently bilingual, Henry has performed
in English and in French across Canada, in Europe and Mexico.  Over a
fifteen year career, Henry has worn many hats including actor, stage
manager, director and writer for the theatre as well as performing in
various film, TV and radio productions.  He has served on the board of
the Canadian Conference of the Arts, and has represented Equity
internationally at the North American Performer's Union in New York, the
INCD meetings in Montreal, and at the FIA meetings in London. He has
most recently finished a sucessful three year term as Treasurer of CAEA.
