The Carlos Bulosan Theatre is holding auditions for its upcoming
production Miss Orient(ed).

We are looking for actors to portray the following Filipino-Canadian
characters:

4 Female Actors (early to mid 20s) and 1 Female Actor (mid 40s to late
50s). The ability to speak Tagalog is an asset but not required.

Set in a beauty pageant, three young contestants vie for the title of
"Miss Pearl of the Orient" and struggle with conflicting cultural
identities and beauty ideals. Carrie fights to fit in with a box of
blond Clairol #5. Jennifer discovers that she isn't white on a road trip
to New York, and Twinkle survives the new immigrant experience by
watching Survivor! Each girl asserts her right to fill the shoes of the
reigning Miss Pearl of the Orient (aka the Beauty Icon), and go to
battle over who is more "Filipino/Canadian" than the other. The big
question is: Who wins?

Audition Dates:      February 11 & 12, 2003
Rehearsal Dates:    April 28 - May 17, 2003
Production Dates:   May 19 - June 8, 2003 at the Factory Studio Theatre
