Twelfth Night: The Coming of a Nu Don
Produced by Equity Showcase Theatre

A 3-day Music Workshop February 27th, 28th and March 1st.
Two presentations: February 28th at 2:00 pm, and March 1st 8:00 pm

This contemporary rendition of Twelfth Night: The Coming of a Nu Don is
a specially crafted mould of old and new, literature and hip-hop
performance and urban culture, written and directed by L. Dean Ifill. In
collaboration with Toronto Music Week...a NEW AND EXCITING SHOW WITH
MUCH PUBLICITY TO BE EXPECTED!!!!

Please prepare:
1.	2 Monologues
*	1 Classic
*	1 Contemporary
2.	1 song-contemporary must be rock, R&B, rap, or hip-hop.

Character descriptions:

Viola: (20-30 black female) character icons- a combination of DaBrat,
Brandy Viola paints us this picture of herself being innocent but as she
shows us things aren't as they seem.  Remember, she decides to present
herself to the Duke as a boy name Cesario and then eventually reveal her
true colors with the hopes of them getting married.  This plan is almost
foiled when Olivia falls in love with her.  At times she shows us her
true age when in the presence of the Duke.  She's like a teenager of
"today", when in the presence of any urban male icon she gets weak in
the knees and her heart palpitates. 

Olivia:  (30-35 black female) character icons- a combination of Toni
Braxton, Vanessa Williams, and Rachael Crawford Olivia is a countess who
is in mourning for her brother.  Once she sees Viola she forgets that.
>From that moment on every move that she makes is made with unconscious
sensuality.  The Lady Olivia has also become a personality in Illyria
but not for the same reasons as the Duke. Olivia's consumed by her
mourning, it's swallowed her up so much that she pays more attention to
her many black out-fits than trying to return
to her life.   Her mourning is quickly forgotten when she meets Cesario
(Viola). 

Malvolio:  character icons-a combination of Jeffery (Fresh Prince of Bel
Air), Thurston Howell III Having a very stern attitude and strong
exterior Malvolio takes pride in being Olivia's steward.  He is a strong
man who's been a rather "stiff" all his life.  His mentality is that no
woman is good enough and no man is man enough for him. Malvolio is a
closet case Harley Davidson rider and loves to strap on the chaps.

Equity members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity
form of contract.
