The Greater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance presents...
Making a Scene Theatre Conference 2003
March 6th to March 8th (Thursday through Saturday) on Granville Island
The GVPTA is pleased to announce our fourth annual conference for the
professional theatre community of B.C. taking place on Granville Island
from March 6th to March 8th. Join in the excitement, and expand your
network, connect with the community, gain valuable information and
ideas, strengthen your craft and get inspired!
Christopher Newton, former artistic director of the Shaw Festival, will
kick off the conference on Thursday evening with a keynote address,
followed by a wide array of stimulating, entertaining and engrossing
sessions on some of the following topics:
The Scoop: An opportunity to ask local artistic directors what they
look for in an audition situation, what stands out in a resume, how they
see the role of an actor in their company, and anything else you have
always been dying to know.
Jazzing Up the Rehearsal Process: How do you keep your process fresh,
inspired and growing in the rehearsal hall? Inventive and eclectic
directors come forward to share their creative, and sometimes wacky
tactics in making the rehearsal hall a supportive, nurturing and
productive environment.
Putting Your Best Face Forward: Local photographers, accountants, and
agents come together to give you some hot tips on how to keep yourself
organized, make the right impression and stay ahead of the game.
L.I.F.E. (Longevity, Inspiration, Fundamentals & Experience) of An
Actor: A panel of three respected actors in various stages of their
careers will lead a discussion and share their tips of the trade.
It's not too late to submit ideas for other sessions or issues you would
like to see in the conference. Just feel free to contact the GVPTA
office by phone or e-mail at the addresses below c/o Sarah Louise
Turner.
Hope to see you there!
"It was the first time I felt truly a part of this community and came to
understand our common vision. You bet I'll be here next year!"
