 EQUIFLASH: ELECTIONS, STAGE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

Dear Members:

After receiving our President's letter on the Equity E-Drive, we were
very concerned to read that there were not enough nominations to fill
all the available positions for the upcoming election. 

In particular, we see there are still some open slots for the Stage
Management Committee. 

We all know that involvement at this level of our Association is not a
trivial commitment, but it is vital for the health of our Association
and we need to fill these positions.

This is especially important for the Stage Management Committee. Having
existed for years as an ad hoc group, we pressed for the opportunity to
become an elected, nationally representative body, reporting to Council.
The trial period for this was the current term of Council, and they have
now made the decision to adopt this arrangement on an ongoing basis.

The results for the stage management community have been excellent. We
enjoyed unprecedented representation at Council, with the opportunity to
bring forward YOUR concerns in a manner which only an elected body can
do.

The Stage Management Committee meets by conference call about every six
weeks, with a recess over the summer. In addition, Council has set aside
funds to permit a first-of-the-term in-person meeting.

Of course, if you would prefer to be involved in Council, or in the
regional advisories, we encourage that as well.

Nominations are still open until the 14th of July. There is a form in
the Equity Newsletter and on the web site to allow you to become a
candidate by petition. If you cannot locate the form, reply to this
e-mail and we will send you the details.

We particularly urge members from Alberta North and NWT, Alberta South,
Eastern Opera, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Western Dance and
Western Opera to give this some thought and to pass the word -- we need
to fill these nomination slots. 

And if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask.

Get involved. After all, it's about you.
