Production Manager
Great Canadian Theatre Company, Ottawa
GCTC, fulfilling the functions of Ottawa's regional theatre and play
development centre,
produces, on a $1.2 million budget, an annual season of six Mainstage
contemporary plays plus
the Great Canadian comedy series (2 shows), a six-concert Acoustic Waves
music series and
serves as a host venue for other, independent theatre, dance and music
events.
GCTC is accepting applications for the full-time, year-round position of
Production Manager,
beginning August 2003. Salary negotiable, commensurate with experience.
Reporting and accountable to the Artistic and Managing Directors, the
Production Manager
- plans and supervises the execution of GCTC productions;
- develops and implements production schedules;
- assists in the preparation of operating budgets for production
departments;?
- manages the production budgets;
- authorizes production purchasing and maintains budget control on
designated accounts;
- assists in the preparation of capital budgets; implements
production-related capital purchases
and projects;
- assesses, defines and organizes Production Department personnel
requirements in
consultation with the Managing Director and Artistic Director;
- contracts designers and stage managers as directed by the Artistic
Director;
- advises and assists the Managing and Artistic Directors in the
organization of special
production activities and in long-range planning and development;
- ensures the proper and safe operation and maintenance of the
\'physical plant\';
- executes and oversees any technical training programs;
- ensures compliance of any related IATSE, CTA and ADC regulations
- ensures, within reason that all Health and Safety standards are met.
QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of five years experience in a comparable professional
Production Management
position or equivalent. An ability to maintain an objective yet involved
overview of the many
components of the position. Ability to communicate with and supervise
designers, stage
managers, and technical staff. A strong understanding of the creative
process of the theatre as it
applies to technical aspects of professional production.
