CASTING: MALE LEAD - in GIZMETTE by Bernadette Jones & Alan Marsh 
Gizmette - The play is essentially a romantic comedy with a dark twist. 

Dave: (late 20's / early - mid 30's) 

He is a robotics design genius. Dave's knowledge and inventions in the
field of technology has allowed him to create a life that is totally
self-sufficient and needs little or no human contact. Dave likes it this
way. When he is forced to go out, he puts on protective gear due to a
respiratory ailment that requires medication and is exacerbated when he
gets excited or is in a conflict situation. 

Dave is also a voyeur. He often watches a web cam girl and the 'Nudie
News' is part of his daily routine. Dave is currently working on
intuitive and emotional command response systems in a prototype robot -
Proto III 124. This robot has a definite female form and is later named
- "Gizmette". Dave has little vocal expression when he speaks, but he
does not mince words. He can appear hard and stony faced - not very
attractive in his self-absorption. But when he is solving a problem and
progress is being made, he can light up and his face transforms. He has
a great passion for his work and cannot abide frivolousness. 

ACTORS WITH SUBSTANTIAL STAGE EXPERIENCE ONLY PLEASE. 

Auditions to be held April 8th  & 9th. 

The script will be available to selected applicants only after an
audition time has been secured. 

Opening May 22nd, 2003 at The Alumnae Theatre.
