The Saidye Bronfman Centre Theatre presents Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen
from November 17 - December 7. MECCA Award winning director returns to
the SBC Theatre.
Chris Abraham, in his fifth collaboration with the Saidye Bronfman
Centre, creates a haunting re-imagining of Henrik Ibsen's explosive
masterpiece with an impressive line-up of talent from across the
country. Mr. Abrahams' achievements at the SBC Theatre are rooted in
innovation and his inspired new vision of Ibsen's classic is sure to
shed new light on a play that has always courted controversy and
conversation. Be prepared for a highly charged theatrical experience
that is not to be missed.
The stellar cast for this production features both rising young stars
and seasoned professionals. Kevin Bundy has spent the past five seasons
at Shaw, Colombe Demers (graduate of Conservatoire D'Art Dramatique,
two-time Dora award nominee), Monica Dottor (experience includes
productions at The Citadel, The National Arts Centre and the Centaur),
Graham Harley (his resume spans the country including both Stratford and
Shaw), Alex Ivanovici (Artistic Director of Projet Porte-Parole), Gemini
Award-winner Liisa Repo-Martell, Miriam Samuels (founding performer with
the Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre) and Moira Wylie (former Artistic
Director of The Piggery). The show is stage managed by Jennifer Jensen
with Merissa Tordjman as assistant stage manager and Amanda Corber
apprentice stage manager.
Monday Night Talkbacks
Every Monday night following the play, some of the actors and/or
designers will remain on stage to take questions from the audience.
This is an opportunity for the audience to get up close and personal
with the people that make it all happen. Combined with the new lower
rates for this evening, Monday night performances have become an
outstanding package that true theatre buffs cannot resist.
