HAIRSPRAY
OPEN CASTING CALL FOR THE TORONTO COMPANY
------------------------------------------

VANCOUVER
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2003

Vancouver Playhouse Production Centre
160 West 1st Avenue (just west of Main St.), Vancouver

Sign-in between 9:00am - 12:00pm, singing begins at 9:30am

We are currently seeking male and female singers (can be any ethnicity
and any type) with strong pop singing voices, movement ability, and
great personalities, ages 18 - 50.


ESPECIALLY SEEKING:

TRACY TURNBLAD: Female, Caucasian, 5'3" or shorter, to play high school
age. Must be heavyset. Fun, goodhearted, outgoing, with a vibrant,
lovable 
personality. Strong pop singer and mover.

MOTORMOUTH MAYBELLE: Female, African-Canadian, 40's - 50's. Powerful and
inspiring with an infectious personality. Large physique. Strong/
soulful gospel/pop singer.

SEAWEED: Male, African-Canadian, to play high school age. Cool, sexy
goodhearted. Strong, soulful pop singer and mover.

PREPARATION: Please prepare one brief 1960s-style pop song showing
range. Bring sheet music and a photo/resume stapled together. An
accompanist will be provided.

We are strongly encouraging performers of all ethnicities and racial
backgrounds to attend this call.
