RESURGENCE THEATRE COMPANY - NEWMARKET, ONTARIO

Now entering its sixth anniversary season, Resurgence Theatre Company is
a professional company striving to resurge the classics and ignite new
and contemporary theatre productions in York Region.  Based in
Newmarket, Ontario just 40 minutes north of Toronto, the company
produces the annual York Shakespeare Festival at Fairy Lake Park in July
and August.  This year's Festival will include one Shakespearean and one
contemporary production.  In addition, Resurgence is committed to
providing educational and professional development opportunities for
youth.  Programs such as the Summer Youth Theatre Conservatory and the
Shakespeare Educational Outreach Program provide thousands of young
people ages 10 to 18 from across York Region and the Greater Toronto
Area with access to training and exposure from professional actors,
directors and designers.

Resurgence has recently restructured their administration to include an
Artistic Producer, Director of Development & Marketing and an Office
Coordinator.  The company currently operates with an annual budget of
$235,000.  The Artistic Producer will be the senior staff position,
leading the company artistically and administratively.  Reporting to the
Board of Directors, the applicant will be responsible for directing both
plays in the 2004 season.  The applicant will be very familiar with the
Canadian Theatre scene and have a solid background as a professional
theatre Director.  Strong entrepreneurial, management and interpersonal
skills will also be required.
