CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR VICTOR C. POLLEY AWARD FOR ARTS ADMINISTRATORS

DEADLINE: December 1, 2003

Theatre Ontario is calling for nominations for the annual Victor C. Polley Award, which is given to an emerging Arts Administrator who has demonstrated outstanding ability in the theatre sector.  This award commemorates the commitment and achievements of the late Victor C. Polley, long-time administrator at the Stratford Festival and the St. Lawrence Centre. Special
thanks to TheatreBooks for their contribution to this award.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

·         Nominations may include any administrative position that involves responsibility for managing people or information, such as Publicist, Events Coordinator, Facilities Manager, General Manager or an assistant to a senior management position in the theatre sector.
·         Nominee must be in the early stages of an administrative career [at least two years in the profession and no more than 7 years in any professional capacity in the performing arts].
·         Nominee must be resident in Ontario and currently employed by a theatre company, theatre facility or theatre service organization.
·         Applicants should be under the age of 35 years.

Nominations should be in the form of a letter explaining why the nominee is deserving of this award.  Please provide two names and phone numbers of other people who could be called upon to comment on the nomination.  The nominee's curriculum vitae or résumé must accompany the nomination letter. The first recipient of this award was Elaine Calder (1983). Other recipients include Heather Redick (1984), Christopher Bye (1985), Victoria Steele (1986), Tamara Ivanochko (1987), Linda Brown & Sara Meurling (1988), Jennifer Ross (1991), Beverly Brown-Sweeting (1993), Ron Berti & Nancy Webster (1995), Taylor Raths (1997), Sean Trofin & Laura J. Forth (1999) and Erin O'Rourke (2002).

The deadline for nominations is December 1, 2003.
