EXPERIENCED STAGE ACTOR REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY

An experienced and sensitive actor is required for "JONESING," a new
play written and directed by Kevin Sheard.

The actor should be able to play 40-45 years. The material is gritty and
raw. It is powerfully mythic and draws on ancient Greek tragedy -
Oedipus, Medea Lysistrata and Antigone. It is a modern tragedy about a
most dysfunctional family coping with drug (crack) addiction, incest,
homosexuality and family power struggle. The character is a conservative
gay man who has oral sex with his estranged son (this is simulated on
stage) and later is re-united with the boy's mother and girlfriend. He
is the father figure in the play. He grows and changes from the
experience of meeting new people. He has a close relationship with the
son and a young woman who is carrying his grandchild. The play is about
family love and he is an anchor for the emotion in the play.

Director Kevin Sheard is interested in receiving submission from Equity
actors who will work on a guest artist contract ($475 weekly) beginning
on October 27, 2003 until December 7, 2003. Performanced begin November
17, 2003 at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre (Tallulah's Cabaret).

Pleach check with actors before submitting to confirm if they are
available and interested in this type of project. It is raw and bare
boned theatre...rehearsals will be held in the living room of the
director's home. It may not be necessary to audition arctors who are
submitted as the director is very familiar with local talent. Becau7se
it is such short notice the primary objective is to find out who is
interested and available. The actor must be a quick study, very
creative, sensitive and easy going.
