AUDITION - KEELE STREET LEADS TO HEAVEN
----------------------------------------

Workshop and Staged Public Reading of Keele Street Leads to Heaven by
Rosemary Paniccia as part of Teesri Duniya Theatre's FIREWORKS New
Play/New Form Development program. The workshops and reading will be
directed by Emma Tibaldo.

The staged public reading will be held November 23rd at 4:00 p.m. at the
Geordie Theatre space; 4001 rue Berri, Montreal, QC

Auditions will be held on November 3rd at the Playwright's Workshop
Montreal space;

Call-backs will be held November 4th.

ALL PARTS REQUIRE KNOWLEDGE OF ITALIAN LANGUAGE

Equity Members will be given priority for Audition spaces.

Sides will be handed out at auditions. Please come at least 15 minutes
early for review.

Character Breakdown: All characters speak Italian in the play. When
Giovanna, Filomena, and Grazia speak English they do so as if they are
speaking Italian therefore their English would be well spoken.

Rosaria Quattrociocchi
A young woman of 23 years of age. She is epileptic and suffers mainly
from temporal lobe seizures. Daughter of Giovanna and Peitro and older
sister to Giuseppe. Rosaria hasreturned home for her mother's funeral
after having been away for 3 years. She went to University to study
theatre and is a manager at the Stitches in Sheridan Mall. In the course
of the play her ages range from 13 to 23 years of age.

Giovanna Quattrociocchi
The mother of Giuseppe and Rosaria. She came to Canada in 1976. She is
46 years old. She suffocates her children with her overbearing nature
and need to feed everyone. She appears in flashbacks therefore her age
ranges between 36 and 46 years of age. 

Comitato
In Italian television culture there exists a character who is never seen
but whose voice is heard and is always male: this is the Comitato. The
Comitato functions as the physical manifestation of Rosaria's seizures.
He can be anywhere from 35 to 50 years of age.

Filomena
Giovanna's older sister. She is 50 years old. She also came to Canada
form Italy but a few years before Giovanna. She is married to Stefano
and has a son named Roberto, whom she affectionately calls Robertino.

Grazia
Grazia is a neighbor to Giovanna and close friend to both Govanna and
Filomena. She is about 50 years old. She is a gossip and is unhappily
married.
Actors/Actresses will need to be available for 3 workshop dates leading
up to the staged reading. All rehearsals will be held at Playwright's
Workshop Montreal;

1st Rehearsal: November 19th 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
2nd Rehearsal: November 20th 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
3rd Rehearsal: November 21st 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
