MANAGING PRODUCER / AGENT - TORONTO

Working in Toronto with four of Canada¹s acclaimed independent contemporary dance artists: Kate Alton (Overall Dance), Susanna Hood (hum dansoundart), Julia Sasso (Julia Sasso dances), and Eryn Dace Trudell (By Grace Dance
Exquisitorium), as the MANAGING PRODUCER/AGENT you will be responsible for working together with each artist to further the development and sustainability of their careers, and in the process realize your own career as a producer in the performing arts milieu. In identifying how each of these artists and their various artistic offerings differ, you will form unique relationships with each of them.
Specific activities include:
... Developing professional presentation possibilities through local, national and international networking and the co-ordination of the resulting presentation possibilities including contracting, financing and financial control, logistics and marketing support efforts;
... Development and production of various marketing materials and initiatives that reflect the uniqueness of each artist, supports their ongoing presence in the cultural milieu and supports individual projects;
... Researching possible funding sources, both public and private, for each individual artist¹s activity, developing formal relations with potential funding sources in the best interests of the artist, preparing appropriate submissions/requests (i.e., grant writing) and required reporting;
... Overseeing the ongoing health of the non-profit charitable organizations that support each of these artists including annual reporting, co-ordination of boards of directors and their ongoing governance and supporting
activities, financial planning and reporting;
... Working with each of the artists to develop appropriate plans to allow for the development/creation, financial planning (including revenue generation, budgeting and control, and cashflow management), production and distribution
of artistic offerings;
... Establishing formal relations and contracts with collaborators, artists, suppliers and presenters; and
... Identifying partners with in the broader community, establishing and maintaining formal relationships.
You possess excellent time management and communication skills, both written and verbal. You have formal management skills specifically in the areas of Accounting (budgeting, bookkeeping, cashflow and reporting) and Marketing.
As a team player you understand how to manage and maintain relationships. You are a self-starter with entrepreneurial sensibilities. Ideally you have an affinity for and an awareness of the performing arts in Canada. Being bilingual in English and French would be considered an asset.
