EQUIFLASH - ITA CONTRACT REQUIRED FOR BLUE MAN GROUP - NATIONAL
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Executive Committee of Council has determined that the Toronto
production of BLUE MAN GROUP is operating within CAEA jurisdiction and
must adhere to the Independent Theatre Agreeemnt (ITA) if they wish to
engage Equity members.
Until such time as the producer, Clear Channel Entertainment or any
other entity purporting to contract for the BLUE MAN GROUP, signs on to
the ITA and engages Equity members under an ITA engagement contract,
members of Equity are asked to refrain from working for BLUE MAN GROUP.
Members are advised to only accept a signed Equity contract as an offer
of engagement, and that a deal memo does not guarantee that appropriate
arrangements have been made with Equity. Members are advised that CAEA
will not grant permission to work for this engager without reference to
an Equity contract.
The Independent Theatre Agreement is the scale agreement for
professional commercial engagers which are not members of PACT and
includes minimum requirements for:
* Fees and Other Compensation
* Hours of Work & Overtime
* Security Bond Contract Enforcement
* Stage Management Staffing
* Insurance and RRSP Contributions
All members of CAEA are reminded that they may not rehearse or perform,
stage manage, direct, fight direct or choreograph for any producer
(Equity or non-Equity, with or without pay) without an Equity contract
or the written permission of the Association. Any member who does so may
be subject to disciplinary proceedings under the Constitution and
By-Laws of CAEA.
