ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
VERTIGO MYSTERY THEATRE

Vertigo Mystery Theatre offers Calgarians popular, high-quality and
affordable live theatre.  Since its incorporation as a charitable
society in 1997, the organization has evolved into a fully professional
company that performs to an annual audience of 30,000 for its Mystery
Series, including 4,600 subscribers. Most recently, it has successfully
raised in excess of $6.8 million in capital funds to build a new theatre
complex to be its permanent home as well as the performance home of
numerous theatre, dance and festival organizations.  As a direct result
of the efforts of the outgoing artistic-management team, Vertigo is
well-poised for the future.  The Board of Directors is now seeking a
dynamic individual to lead the organization as Artistic Director through
its next stage of evolution.

Vertigo Mystery Theatre opened its new theatre complex at the base of
the Calgary Tower in the heart of Calgary's Cultural District in October
2003.  It is comprised of a 350-seat proscenium theatre (The Playhouse),
a 103+ - seat reconfigurable theatre (The Studio), a lobby designed to
display the best of Alberta's visual artists (Gallery 2005), finishing
shop and administrative offices.

Over this past year, Vertigo has successfully re-positioned itself
within the community with a three-dimensional business strategy that
uniquely situates it as: * Canada's only professional mystery theatre *
Calgary's only theatre for young audience presenter (Y Stage),
presenting a full season of professional productions created by
companies from across the country and beyond * a facilitator of the
development of smaller Calgary performing arts organizations through
year-round use of The Studio.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Artistic Director will work
closely with the General Manager, Y Stage Artistic Producer and a highly
competent staff of twelve to lead the organization through its next
phase in its new home.

Vertigo Mystery Theatre has an operating budget of $1.6 million, is a
member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (P.A.C.T.),
engages artists who are members of Canadian Actors Equity Association
under the terms of the Canadian Theatre Agreement and is one of the
founding members of the Canadian Alliance of Presenters in Regular
Season and Producers of Theatre for Young Audiences.
