E-DRIVE - AUDITION - TORONTO

The Carlos Bulosan Theatre (CBT) is holding auditions for its upcoming
production of The Romance of Magno Rubio.

The Romance of Magno Rubio tells the hard luck tale of Magno, a simple
Filipino immigrant farm labourer in 1930's California who won't let
hardship or heartbreak mar his hopeful spirit. Through clever word play,
rhymes, hip hop rhythms, movement and song, The Romance of Magno Rubio
reveals the lives of migrant workers, their struggles and dreams, and
their longings for home and a better life.

We are looking for 5 male actors (20-40) to play Filipino farm
labourers. This ensemble piece requires strong actors. The ability to
sing and move well is an asset but not a requirement. This audition is
open to both Equity and non-Equity actors.

Auditions will be held in Toronto in late October. Rehearsals for The
Romance of Magno Rubio will be held in April, 2005, followed by a
three-week run in May, 2005, at The Theatre Centre.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, October 13, 2004.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
