APPLICATIONS NOW AVAILABLE 
FOR THE FRINGE'S SIXTH ANNUAL 
NEW PLAY CONTEST

On November 18th, 2004, The Toronto Fringe Festival will begin accepting
scripts for our sixth annual New Play Contest. 
Entry is first-come, first-served and the deadline to submit a script is
December 10th or until 80 applications have been received.  

A jury will determine the winners and they will be announced at the
Fringe Lottery Party in February. First Prize is a spot in the 2005
Fringe Festival and $300.  Second and third place winners will receive
cash prizes.  Past winners include; "Stealing Freedom" by Stephanie
Nickerson (Fringe 2004), "That Boy" by Paul Gibson (Fringe 2003) and
"Fish/Wife" by Rick Roberts (Fringe 2002). 
Each played to sold-out houses during The Fringe.

- Plays must be a new, original work.
- Plays must not have been previously  produced however plays that have
been worlrkshopped are still eligible.
- The playwright may have received funding to create or workshop the
play.
- Plays entered must have a performance time of 90 minutes or less. 
- The contest is open to permanent residents of Ontario. 
- One application/playwright allowed.
- The winner must use their Fringe  slot to produce the play that was
submitted to the contest.
