1. THINKING THEATRE OUTSIDE THE BOX - VANCOUVER

Thinking Theatre Outside the Box with Theatre Terrific 

VANCOUVER: Theatre Terrific Society is happy to announce that along with
assistance from the Canadian Actors Equity Association's Professional
Development Fund, it will host Thinking Theatre Outside the Box, a
workshop for drama instructors.
In this workshop participants will explore ideas, methods and techniques
that empower possibilities in the world of disability theatre.  Susanna
Uchatius and Creona McDonald will offer methods that respectfully create
a sound ensemble base for creative theatrical work in the disability
community.  
The workshop will provide training to individuals in how to adapt acting
exercises including improvisation, theatre games, scene work, singing
and movement to any population. Through participating in exercises,
role-playing and an exchange of ideas and methods, everyone will gain an
increased awareness of varying learning processes and the ability to
approach any group or situation.
 
Theatre Terrific Society has been working since 1985 to gain public
acceptance for people with disabilities by providing opportunities to
participate in Vancouver's vibrant theatrical community. Theatre
Terrific productions give the public access to the gifts and experiences
of the performers, increasing awareness of the disabled among us,
celebrating diversity and changing people's lives forever.

Performance is a powerful experience that enables people with
disabilities to transcend dependency, embrace leadership roles and gain
the confidence to participate more fully in society. Theatre Terrific
Society's programs are based on abilities, collaboration and
self-expression. 

Thinking Theatre Outside the Box will be held at:

Sunday, October 3, 2004 from 6pm - 9pm. 
Cost of workshop: $20
Members of Canadian Actor's Equity Association: no charge
