Assistant Professor - Dramatics Arts / Great Books/Liberal Studies

Posting #: F 33/2005

Responsibilities
Brock University's Department of Dramatic Arts (DART) and Centre for
Great
Books/Liberal Studies (GBLS) invite applications for a tenure-track
cross-appointment at the rank of assistant professor in theatre history
before the twentieth century. In addition, expertise in one or more of
the
following areas would be an asset: directing theatre, cultural
criticism,
pedagogical innovation, drama in education and society, music, or the

time
of application. The position is subject to final budgetary approval.

teaching, in particular contributing to a new undergraduate liberal arts

program that is developing out of GBLS. DART offers courses in three
main
streams: Theatre, Dramatic Literature, and Drama in Education and
Society.
Candidates should have an interest in praxis, the integration of theory

classics of Western (and occasionally non-Western) literature, thought
and
art (covering the social and natural sciences as well as the humanities
and
fine arts), and emphasis is placed on reading and discussing primary
texts.

The successful candidate will be based in the Department of Dramatic
