Neptune Theatre School - Director of Education

Neptune is seeking a Director of Education for the Neptune Theatre
School.   Reporting to Neptune's Artistic Director and General Manager,
the Director of Education will develop, implement and manage a program
of activities that will guide the School into its future. 

Located in the heart of downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia, Neptune Theatre
has been in existence for 42 years and is one of Canada's premiere
regional theatres.  An integral part of the Neptune Theatre is the
Neptune Theatre School which has been in operation for 22 years and
currently has an enrolment of over 1,400 students.   The Neptune Theatre
School operates year round and offers theatre education and outreach
programs to students of all ages. 

The Director of Education is a creative and disciplined leader with a
university degree in education (with a focus on theatre education) or a
related degree and a minimum of five years experience in a management
role. 

He/she has strong organizational and managerial skills and a keen sense
of community.  He or she will have experience in education or
theatre-in-education and will have experience in directing theatre,
particularly theatre for young audiences. Previous experience in a
similar role would be desirable. 

The ideal candidate is a person with vision who enjoys working with
young people.  He/she is also a person who has definite ideas of the
training needed to encourage, develop, and sustain a love for and an
understanding of theatre amongst the School's students, including those
who are considering a career in theatre.   He/she also understands how
to orchestrate people and resources to make the Theatre School operate
smoothly.
