This fund is expressly intended for member driven workshops and classes
that:

- encourage improvement of existing skills or creation of new skills;
- encourage artistic exploration, experimentation and risk-taking;
- increase confidence;
- increase profiles in the community;
- increase awareness of work opportunities;
- increase ability to take advantage of work opportunities.
Call the Equity communications department for a copy of the professional
development policy and budget form or visit the Equity website:
www.caea.com for a downloadable version (go to "publications").
Applications from Members
Applications from a group of members should be as brief as possible,
ideally:
1. One page describing the nature of the professional development
project, the number of total participants and the anticipated number of
Equity member participants;
2. A second page outlining the budget for the project, revenue from
other sources and a description of how the grant funding will be
applied;
3. An instructor profile & CV.
Note: A final report will be required upon completion of the workshop.
Applications from members will be assessed on the following criteria:
- The number of Equity members in good standing participating (normally,
a grant will be given only to a workshop in which a majority of
participants are Equity members);
- Whether other sources of revenue, including participants' fees, have
been investigated;
- The need in the local community for the project;
- The completed budget form.
Applications from Organizations
Organizations should provide:
1. A brief description of the organization's programming (a
promotional brochure would be ideal);
2. A succinct outline of how a grant from this fund will directly
impact the professional development of Equity members;
3. An instructor profile & CV.
Note: A final report will be required upon completion of the workshop.
Applications from organizations will be assessed on the following
criteria:
- The number of Equity members previously and potentially served by the
organization;
- The degree of involvement of local Equity members in creating and
driving programs;
- The level of financial accountability for funding received from Equity
in the past;
- Community need for the proposed program.
Equity's professional development committee will review applications
from members in good standing and award grants to members in good
standing. The maximum grant permitted is $3,000 per project.
The fund will not grant money to projects or programs that are directly
related to a production or engager.
Applications should be addressed to the
Professional Development Committee:
