JOB - GENERAL MANAGER - WINDSOR

General Manager Capitol Theatre Windsor
The Board of Directors of the Capitol Theatre and Performing Arts Centre
in Windsor, Ontario is seeking a General Manager to report to the Board
and have full-time responsibility for the management of an arts centre
comprising a 700 seat theatre, 240 seat theatre, and
performance/multi-use rental space. The Capitol is a non-profit
corporation with its objects and purposes to operate the theatre and
work with the community to offer programming in the facility, produce
and present live performances for the benefit of the general public, and
establish programs, education, drama, art, music, dance, theatre, film
and recreation for the benefit of the community. The Capitol has an
annual budget of approximately $1.4 million. The Board is seeking a
seasoned arts administrator with a proven track record holding the
following specific qualifications for the position of General Manager:
1. Arts management experience with direct experience as the general
manager of a performing arts centre/theatre or similar
facility/organization preferred.
2. Superior managerial, organizational and human resource skills to
work with staff to operate the facility and work jointly with the board
to execute the strategic plan and vision of the Capitol.
3. Excellent financial management skills and the ability to
negotiate contracts with theatre companies, performers, building tenants
and other occasional renters of the facility.
4. Ability to maintain an excellent relationship with the local
arts community, political bodies, donors, media, volunteers, and the
board to carry out the mandate of the Capitol.
5. Experience in fundraising, special events and the development
and execution of annual membership and annual giving campaigns.
6. Experience, skill and proven success preparing grant
applications.
7. Computer literacy and familiarity with theatre computer systems
including computerized box office/ticketing systems.
The General Manger will also provide advice to the Board relative to the
hiring of an Artistic Director to be responsible for the development of
local theatre productions and programming and fostering collaboration
with local arts groups. Salary and benefits are negotiable and will be
commensurate with experience and qualifications. Interested, qualified
