SKYE BRANDON IS THE RECIPIENT OF THE 2005 STAGE WEST - EQUITY EMERGING THEATRE ARTIST AWARD

Skye Brandon of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was announced as the 2005 Stage West - Equity Emerging Theatre Artist Award winner at Equity's Honours Awards ceremonies held yesterday in Toronto.

Skye is a multi-talented performer, director and stage manager making his mark on the alternative theatre scene in Saskatchewan. He has been the driving force behind a number of recent productions in Saskatoon and currently sits on the board of the Saskatchewan Playwrights Centre. Skye has already built an impressive body of work.

The Emerging Artist Award and a $2,000 cash prize was generously initiated by Stage West in celebration of Equity's silver anniversary in 2001. The Award recognizes an Equity member of three years or less who has already made a significant contribution and impression as an artist. 

Equity also honoured Charmion King and Gordon Pinsent with Life Memberships, Brenda Kamino with The Larry McCance Award and Wendy Lill with Honorary Membership at the Honours Awards ceremonies.
