It all kicks off with Salvatore Antonio's stunning debut, In Gabriel's
Kitchen, directed by Buddies' Artistic Director David Oiye. What happens
when our world is irrevocably shaken? For Gabriel, youngest son in a
tight-knit Italian-Canadian family, falling in love leads to decisions
which cannot be reversed. For Gabriel's family, the subsequent loss of
their favourite child means a silence of denial and the slow crumbling
of a family built on Old World morals. In Gabriel's Kitchen explores the
destructive nature of denial and the almost imperceptible hope which
springs from epiphany.
