The current issue of the Equity News highlights the 2006 Federal Budget announcement and Canadian government spending on culture at the federal, provincial and municipal levels. Merritt Award winners (Nova Scotia) are announced and an update on the Canada Revenue Agency's recent decision to not appeal the Tax Court's ruling on independent contractors at the Royal Winnipeg ballet is included. This issue includes a list of 2006 Equity election candidates (to date) as nominated by the regional Nomination Committees.
