HOMEBODY/KABUL by Tony Kushner

Performance: May 18th-June 9th, 2007

Seeking the following main & featured roles:

KHWAJA-Tajik Afghan 30's/early 40's. Speaks English and some Dari. A
poet, philosopher and Mahram (male escort/guide for women) Good-natured,
with a sly sense of humour.

MAHALA-Pashtun Afghan woman, late 40's/early 50's. Before the Taliban
arrived, a librarian. Speaks mostly English, also French, Dari, Arabic.
Passionate, intelligent and bravely outspoken.

MILTON-British, late 40's/50's, computer specialist, hapless husband of
the Homebody. Well meaning but ineffectual.

PRISCILLA-British, 20's, unemployed, adrift, feisty daughter of the
Homebody. Acerbic, rebellious, but ultimately good hearted.

MULLAH-Pashtun Afghan Man, 40's/50's, Taliban minister. Speaks English
and some Dari. Authoritative, somewhat militant.

DOCTOR QARI SHAH-Pashtun Afghan man, 40's/50's. Speaks English and some
Dari. Refined, kindly manner and intellect.

ZAI GARSHI-Afghan man 30's/40's, former actor, hat seller.  Speaks
English and some Dari.  Frank Sinatra fanatic.

THE MUNKRAT- Pashtun Afghan Man, 20's, Taliban religious police.  Speaks
Englsh and some Dari

A BORDER GAURD - Taliban member, 20's
