ONTARIO EQUITY MEMBERS URGED TO EMAIL THEIR MPP CALLING FOR URGENT AMENDMENTS TO PROPOSED STATUS OF THE ARTIST LEGISLATION

Ontario Equity members are asked to send an email to their MPP calling for amendments to the proposed Status of Ontario's Artists Act.

As part of the Ontario Budget Bill 187 (Schedule 39) the Liberal Government introduced legislation that falls far short of delivering on its promise from the 2003 provincial election campaign. The proposed Act does not address improved minimum working conditions, enhanced economic and social benefits and collective bargaining rights for professional artists and other self-employed cultural workers.
