The Belfry Theatre is pleased to invite letters of interest for the position of Artistic Director to commence in 2008 - 2009.
 
The Belfry is a national professional theatre since 1976 and operates from a beautifully restored heritage. In its intimate 270-seat theatre, the Belfry produces 5 plays per season and enjoys a loyal audience of more than 5,600 season ticket holders.  In addition, the theatre presents a Festival of new Canadian work each spring in the 94-seat Studio theatre and is involved with many community outreach and ancillary events.  The company is deficit free and has an operating budget of $1.9 million. Reporting to the Board of Directors, and working with the General Manager and staff, the Artistic Director will have a passionate commitment to contemporary theatre with an emphasis on Canadian work. The Artistic Director has specific responsibility for the artistic and creative programs of the Belfry including season programming, directing, casting of artists and creative teams, dramaturgy, public relations and board accountability.
She or he will enjoy a highly collaborative partnership with the General Manager on all matters related to company oversight, planning, programming, networking, and community building.
