EQUITY MEMBER ADVISORY - ACTRA ON STRIKE
------------------------------
Canadian Actors' Equity Association supports the Alliance of Canadian
Cinema, Television and Radio Artists' (ACTRA) legal strike against the
Canadian Film & Television Production Association (CFTPA).
As of January 8, 2007 ACTRA is on strike in the provinces of Ontario,
Manitoba and Saskatchewan. We understand that ACTRA will likely be on
strike in the rest of Canada shortly, except in the province of British
Columbia where a separate agreement is in place.
At issue in the dispute are internet usage fees and wage proposals that
would further widen the gap between Canadian and U.S. performers working
side-by-side on the same sets in Canada.
ACTRA members in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan may report to work,
auditions or ADR on IPA productions that have continuation letters
permitting the production to continue shooting. Please check
http://www.actra.ca/actra/control/feature24 or www.actra.ca for
information on a specific production's current status.
Equity members, whether or not they are also ACTRA members, should not
perform any service which ACTRA considers to be struck work. Equity
members should contact their local ACTRA office (contact information by
region is available at http://www.actra.ca/actra/control/nat_contact) if
they are offered struck work.
Further strike information is available on ACTRA's website at
http://www.actra.ca/.
