JOB - MUSICAL DIRECTOR - VANCOUVER

The Universal Gospel Choir, a 70 - voice multi-faith community
organization, is seeking a Music Director to start in the first week of
September, 2007. The UGC has a twenty-two year history in Vancouver and
in early June presented a concert to a virtually sold-out audience at
the Chan Centre. The Choir's repertoire has included songs from
Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Hindu and Buddhist traditions and from the
folk religions of Africa, North America and Cuba. We rehearse every
Monday evening and perform between 10 and 14 times per season (September
to June).
 
The successful candidate will be conversant with both gospel and world
spiritual music and have proficiency and experience in: teaching and
inspiring a large choral group that has a wide  range of musical
abilities transcribing music and creating interesting and varied choral
arrangements leading a 3-piece band working within a
committee-structured organization.
