CASTING CALL

MASTER CLASS by
Terrence McNally

Theatre Athena, in Waterloo, ON is looking for an operatic tenor to play
the role of TONY, in Terrence McNally's "Master Class".
The role is that of a young (22 - 35) singer on the cusp of an operatic
career. He is "Italian-American" but we are willing to look at singers
of all ethnic backgrounds.
He should have an easy ability with dialogue.
Tony sings the aria Recondita Armonia, from Tosca. He should be able to
sing it in a thrilling manner, but he needn't be able to sing the whole
role.

For the audition, the singer would have to prepare a short scene from
the play:  the pages of the French's script are 34 - 36

Theatre Athena operates under the ITA (Independent Theatre Agreement) of
the Canadian Actor's Equity Association. It is a fully Equity company,
but Equity status is not a pre-requisite in auditioning.

Auditions will be held in Toronto July 4.2007 The dates of the
production are:

Sept 8, 2007 rehearsal start
Sept 27 open
Oct 13 close.
Some rehearsals may be held in Toronto.

members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
