General Manager
Workshop West Playwrights Theatre

Founded in 1978, Workshop West Playwrights Theatre is an Edmonton-based
professional theatre dedicated to the development, production,
promotion, and presentation of new Canadian playwrights and their plays,
and to the education of the public in playwrighting skills.

The GM works collaboratively with the Artistic Director on annual and
long range planning.  Reporting to the Board of Directors, the GM is
responsible for overall management of the company, including: 
financial management, administration, development of season and project
budgets (preferably hands-on book-keeping or supervision of book-keeping
services)
overseeing the production of a 2 - 3 play/season, 2 - 3 festivals, and
other events
fundraising and fund development, grant writing, and liaison with
funding agencies
marketing and promotion of the company, shows, festivals and events
human resources - contracting artists, production, and administrative
personnel 
Board and community liaison

Excellent written and oral communication skills, background in arts
administration and management, a passion for theatre, and the ability to
work independently and in a team situation would be assets. 

The position is full time with a salary range of $30 - $35,000
commensurate
with experience, and includes a benefits package and opportunities for
professional development.
