CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: SUMMERWORKS - STAGE MANAGER - TORONTO
-----------------------------------------------------------
The Project:
"Home Free" (Hide & Seek Productions),written by Martin Julien and
dramaturged and directed by Stewart Arnott, is a 1-act play that has
been selected for the SummerWorks Festival, Toronto.
The piece is inspired by the story of Canadian James Loney, the gay
Christian Peaceworker who was held hostage in Iraq for 4 months in
2005/06, while his longtime partner, Dan Hunt, had to remain "invisible"
for fear that his presence would signal Loney's sexuality to his captors
and put his life in jeopardy.
While the play includes 2 characters (Frank & Josh) whose situations
reflect Loney's and Hunt's, this is a piece of fiction and is not meant
to depict the real men.
The third character (Roula Said) is an attache for the Dept. of External
Affairs, a Muslim Canadian woman.
The Position:
We are looking for a Stage Manager (CAEA Member, or not) to run the 2
weeks of rehearsal leading up to the opening, and of course run the
show. Rehearsal dates are roughly July 17 - Aug.1, and are somewhat
flexible.
Responses can be sent to:
